My ASUS notebook or motherboard runs ASUS Probe automatically
at startup, which is good, as I want it to do that. ASUS Probe
displays the current temperatures inside the computer. However,
it doesn't have a "minimize on startup option", so
it always starts with a window centered on the screen, which
is annoying. How do I stop that?
1. ASUS Probe does have an automatic startup option, labelled
"Auto-execute ASUS Probe in each boot-up session".
Uncheck that. We will turn off their automatic startup and add
our own.
2. Click on Start, then Programs, then ASUS
Utility, then right-click ASUS Probe v.xx.xx
and choose Properties.
3. In the Target field is the address of the Probe utility.
Press Control-C to copy it to the ClipBoard.
4. Using Windows Explorer, go to C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup; right click in the
pane at the right, and create a new shortcut.
5. Paste the contents of the ClipBoard into the text box.
Click the Next button, and give it the name "ASUS
Probe". Then click the Finish button.
6. You now have a shortcut to the Probe utility, in the Startup
folder. This means Windows will run this at startup. Right-click
the shortcut, and choose Properties.
7. In the Run field, click the drop down list and select
Minimized.
8. Click the OK button to close the dialogue.
Now, when Windows starts up, it will run ASUS Probe minimized.
Eight steps to accomplish something that should have been
programmed into ASUS Probe in the first place.
