When I try to hibernate, I always get this stupid error:
Insufficient
System Resources Exist to Complete the API.
My system has 2GB of memory! Why does this happen?
Answer:
This is a bug introduced with Windows XP Service Pack 2. There
is a fix for it, but you have to download it manually. as it
is not installed automatically by Windows Update. (Why not?
I have no idea, it should be a mandatory update, but nobody ever
accused Microsoft of having any common sense.)
Note: this problem has been fixed in XP Service Pack 3.
You can read about it on Microsoft's web site here. There is a downloadable fix, but Microsoft
won't let you download it unless you first run the Genuine Windows
Validation Check. If your system does not have a valid licence,
use a friend's machine to download it to a USB memory stick,
then plug the stick into your machine and install it from there.
You need to reboot the machine after the fix is installed.
If you haven't got a friend with a valid licence, run a search
engine, like Google, and search for this file:
WindowsXP-KB909095-x86-ENU.exe
Then download it from there. Run a virus scan on it, of course,
before using it.
