Open File Security Warning:
the publisher could not be verified

Arrgggh! Microsoft did it again. Install Internet Explorer 7 and now when you click on a file on a shared network drive, you get this annoying error message! There is no particular reason for this, as it appears for images, text files, programs, whatever, and there's no obvious way to get rid of it.

You can turn it off if you do this:

Open the Control Panel. Open the Internet Options applet.

Select the Security tab, and then click on Local Intranet.

Click the Sites button.

Uncheck "Automatically detect intranet network".

Make sure "Include all network paths (UNCs)" is checked.

Click OK.
