Folder Settings Aren't RetainedYou've set the Windows Explorer option to remember folder settings, but it doesn't. Very annoying, as you have to reset that folder back to thumbnails or details or whatever you had. For some reason, Windows Explorer will remember the settings for only 200 or so folders. After that, they are lost. To change the number to something more useful, like 2000 or 5000, you have to do the following: Click the Start button, then Run, and enter Regedit in the box. Press the ENTER key. The Registry Editor opens. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\. Select the key "BagMRU", right click, and choose Delete. Select the key "Bags", right click, and choose Delete. Restart Windows. Run the Registry Editor again. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\. Right click in the window frame at the right and add a DWORD called "BagMRU Size" (note the space) and give it a value of 000003e8 (for 1000) or 000007D0 (for 2000) or 00001388 (for 5000). Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\ and make a DWORD called "BagMRU Size" and give it the same value. Then reboot Windows again. Now you can change each folder to the way you want it and
the setting will stay If you got here via a search engine, click here to go to the start |
